Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers - was born July 8, 1989 in Paris. As a young girl of just five years old when she left for Oxfordshire and enrolled in her first Dragon School. Emma chose to be an actor by the age of six. Over the course of several years she was enrolled in the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. There she learned singing, dancing and acting. By the age of ten she had appeared and played part in many Stagecoach shows and school productions. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the 2001 film adaptation from J.K. Rowling's bestselling British novel was published in 1999. Emma was found by casting agents through Emma's Oxford theater teacher. David Heyman, the producer of Harry Potter Harry Potter's Sorcerer's Stone and Ron Weasley told Emma after 8 auditions, that she had been chosen for these parts. She was cast alongside Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. The film's release Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's cinematic screen debut. It broke all records in opening-day sales and opening-weekend takings and became the top-grossing movie of 2001. Reviewers were awed by the movie and its performances. The Daily Telegraph, an important British newspaper, called Emma's performances "amazing". Emma received five awards to honor her role in the film.
